Well I have laminate floor and mine are fine and run and romp area on them no problem. They are super easy to keep clean too. Pebbles has the occasional accident and I just use a little enzymatic cleaner and poof done. Once a week I like to use a little Murphy's Oil to mop and it just smell so clean afterward. I've had mine for at least 6 years and they still look great! I would suggest that you silicone all around the walls just incase there might ever be an issue with an accident getting along the baseboards. For instillation the recommend anywhere there might be water that could get to an outside edge (sink, window) but just to be on the safe side you don't want THAT kind of wet to get on the underlayment.
Please be very careful because dogie pee and laminate is VERY SLIPPERY! I found that out the other day the hard way. I slipped and fell in my kitchen on a puddle and broke my arm in 3 places~I'm having surgery next week because of the severe break.

I was barefoot and it was dark when it happened so just be very careful if you like to be barefoot. Lesson learned (the hard way) I will be wearing slippers from now on.
*sigh*
