I think the people who make comments and sarcastic looks like that are the very same people who are using their dog as some sort of status symbol to make them feel better about themselves due to some sort of inferiority complex. (She must have really felt bad as it took four of them).
We all have different size Yorkies, some big, some small some within standard....but I think most of the people here just truly love the breed and don't try to prop up their own self esteem through their dog.
My evil twin says you should have said, "
Ah, ...and you are too" in a voice dripping with southern sugar just like it was a compliment! (Course would work best if she really was big. ) However, my more realistic half says better to do just as you did and
smile as you walked away.
