Wow, so sorry. Don't be too hard on yourself. I have a pool and my Coco is 5 lbs. She was outside on our patio. I always watch her. I have a friend who has a Yorkie/ Maltese. She told me Coco would not go near the pool, her doesn't. Anyway, I walked a few feet to empty my dryer and when i returned( 3min max) Coco was at the door drenched. I freaked out. Thankfully, she managed to get out. I think she fell in by the stairs and found her way out. I was LUCKY, but I felt like a terrible mother for it happening. She now has a life vest. I think I would tell your sister. I know it will ruin her time, but I think I would want to know. For most of us our pets our additional children or our only children. You wouldn' t want someone to wait till you came home to tell you your child drowned, so I would think most people would feel the same way about their furbaby. My thoughts and prayers are with you at this tough time.
