Many vets will tattoo to show a spayed female because that is so hard to determin if the animal is spayed.

For further ID? I am not sure how I feel about that. There is still no way that you could prove the dog is yours if it is not found. If a person stole your dog..shipped it to me here in AZ..what are your chances of getting the dog back? You have to find it to prove it...

As for painful..yahh. I would think so. They tattoo Greyhounds ears and to this day, one of my girls has VERY SENSITIVE ears. You even LOOK at her ears wrong and she hurts..LOL. Poor baby. This is done at a very early age with no pain killers.

I know my tatt's hurt..why wouldn't the animals?

As much as I would like to think that there was someway to keep our animals safe..I don't think a tattoo is the way to go. I won't even microchip my animals unless they are under for a spay or something. The needle is HUGE!! So nope...not for me...I wouldn't do it.
