Sophie is 9 months old and has a very thick, cottony coat. I too am growing it long. However, she was so warm here in Pa. that I chose this past Sunday to have it altered some. I'm at work so I can't post a pic but if you go to my home page you will see the picture of her with her new summer cut. I had all her layers trimmed up along the sides so they are now even and when they grow, it will look much nicer. Her belly is shaved, which is then called a "false skirt". I then had them trim up her feet so that everything was about the same. Her hair though, I must say, grows very fast. And get's very tangled quite easily. I believe the thin silky hair you are describing is what you want to have....so hang in there.
