Thanks to everyone for your very warm welcomes! The GF and I really appreciate the responses and interests in our little Zena. Truth be told, last year at this time the GF and I made a pact, NO MORE PETS! PERIOD! DONE! Then a contractor working on our home remodeling project brought over his Rat Terrier and Mary was smitten with love and affection for it. Still, we both agreed, no more pets!
We went to PetSmart to get some flea meds for our cat and a lady there was giving away a beautiful pom because it was "out of control", digging up the yard, peeing, chewing, and doing what young dogs do! She paid a grand for the dog and just wanted to find a good home for it. Mary gave me that look and I reminded her of our pact. Sadly she agreed and we did not take the pom home. Whew! Close call!
Last November Mary's daughter's coworker had a surprise litter of yorkies, four little girls. She asked if we were interested. Arrrrgh! Groan! No no no! Mary had a change of heart and really wanted a puppy again. I held firm and reminded her of our pact. After a few weeks I reluctantly gave in to her wishes and said yes. I did some research on yorkies and was not impressed initially. I did not want some yappy little terror sporting a topknot running all over the place, and the thought of toilet training and grooming did not sit well at all. But......................I was willing to give it a try for Mary's sake. Sigh!
We went to see the litter at 4 weeks and Mary fell in love with the runt. The parents were in a seperate room and were barking and yapping up a storm. Moan! My worst nightmare! Yappy noisy irritating lilttle furball terrors! Waaaa! (What happened to NO MORE PETS?)
Cutting to the chase, Zena is the best dog ever and I'm so glad we got her! I love her dearly! She has added so much more pleasure to our lives. What a mistake it would have been not to get her. I learned a valuable lesson.
Sorry for the long post. Woof!
