My Scruffers gets 2-3 hours of exercise per day. I do pet sitting and dog walking so he always gets dragged along. Scruffs came to me as a crazy, high strung, constant energy dog. It took about two months of exercising daily to get him to calm down. He is now super calm and he is just an overall mellow dog.
I think that they should get a minimum of 1 hour of exercise outside of your house/yard. I believe all dogs should be walked no matter their size. Just makes them happier dogs.
