I will tell you my experience with this. I have a 13 year old yorkie. She has always loved other dogs, people, etc. She is in good health..pretty much. We had lost our Leilauni about 2 years ago. I thought to myself..poor Corkie, she is alone while I'm at work..and she'd always had another yorkie around her whole life. Her Mom Cass or Leilauni. Soooooo..I think, well I'd love to have another baby..... and then poor little Cork would not be alone.
MISTAKE on my part. The pup wants to play ( Marley is almost one year now and still the same thing). He jumps her..rolls around nipping at her..chases her... runs and slams into her. He just wants to play. She does NOT. She has not been happy about his arrival. I have to keep them separated a lot. She lives up ..in her bed..on the table, computer desk, the bed..etc..out of his way a lot of the time. I did her NO favors. If I had to do it over again, I would not of gotten him till after she had left me and this world.
Just my opinion. Also as the others have said, quite possibly your older gal might enjoy the attention, so maybe bring the pup in and see how she does.... but I know I wish I'd not brought Marley in until after..... Although a world without Marley for me..would be without a ton of laughs.
But then..this should not of been about me.
Good luck
