I know what you mean. Must be something we carry over from our own childhoods. But so they wouldn't hate their middle names I would sometimes just call them their middle names on pleasant occasions.

All 6 of us have the initials L.A.L. It wasn't something I started intentially. After the first son had his Dad's first name and ended up with same initials, my Mom decided to point out that the 2nd child might feel left out if we changed it. Then the whole thing just became a challange. I decided not to carry this over to my pets. Good thing because some days I get so tongue tied!
