As long as your baby's nails are not touching the floor when they're standing, it doesn't need to be cut. As mentioned by myteddybear, you can round & smooth the end of the nail w/Petipaws or a dremmel.
I wouldn't have them wear shoes/socks...dogs can only cool themselves through the pads of their feet & by panting (through their tongues.) |
Good advice. Unfortunately no wax coating available for the floors. I will try the filing thing though when I end up getting a new puppy though. Even from the groomer's Rocky's nails click when he walks (but they don't touch the floor when he stands). I may also try to put some type of mat/carpet down in the high traffic (fetch) areas to minimize the chance of damage.
Really, dogs less than 18 pounds should not be able to dent the floor. Scratches I can live with - dents are unacceptable to me.
