What I did was put the crate inside the playpen and cover the entire floor with pads. Little by little I removed a pad until she was left with only 1 pad. If she is having accidents, go back to putting more pads.. She will eventually knows she has to go on the pad. Praise him/her everytime you see him/her going on the pad.
Right now I only leave 1 pad, she sometimes misses the pad, so once in a while I leave 2 pads. I change them when I get home from work. Sometimes some dogs will not like a dirty pad and will not pee or poop on a dirty pad. So it really depends on your dog.
I purchase the pads from Target for a very reasonable price. I dont recall the name, but I have only been able to find them at Target. They come in a white and blue bag.
