Give it time. My cat grew up with a dog in the house, but when it went from 1 dog to 4 dogs, she took a couple months to adjust to the situation. In time, Timmy will warm up to the little fuzzbutt, but until then just keep an eye on them and don't force them to be friends. My roommate learned that the hard way.
My cat has only scratched the doberman to put her in her place. It only took one scratch for the dog to learn the cats boundaries.
