Many of the "higher end" foods do come in sample bags for free but one of them I did get a bag for $1.99 bags. I am now letting Sophie try the first one, Merrick Puppy Plate. She seems to be fine with it and enjoying it. I may never get to the other 4 or so that I have, but that's ok. I'll keep them as "treats". I'm a bit leary with the high protein content of Orijen and although on my original list of 7 I did not take home a sample of it. As someone else posted, I too am not an expert on dogs, or dog food, however; the reading I've done so far regarding Yorkie diet has said a 28% protein food. Of course, at puppy stage a bit higher is ok. Again, it's not gospel nor is it necessarily the route for you to take with your puppy. I thought I'd share what I'm trying and see if you can gather any valuable information from it.
Thank you that helps a lot.
