It's given for allergies in general (but is especially helpful for dermatitis). Marcel didn't have skin issues, didn't itch - his symptoms were paw licking/chewing, runny/goopy eyes (he used to wake up at 1am just to chew his paws ). We see a Vet Dermatologist and she said to try the least harsh med first and to avoid steroids if you can. The change in Marcel's symptoms was remarkable.
