I'm sure he'll do fine. My girl is very attached to me and will cry and cry whenever I leave her anywhere-- except at the daycare/cage-less boarding facility where I take her when I need to be away for a long time. She LOVES it there, and is always so thrilled to be with the other dogs that I doubt she even realizes that I am gone. I'm sure that in the long run, your little boy will be a happier dog for being able to socialize with his own kind and spend a little time independent of you.
