I got my dog at 8 weeks - he's now 12 weeks and is STILL snippy and bites whenever you try to pet him. My vet says he has "dominance" issues. I don't know what to do next. I've tried everything in the book. YES I have yelped. YES I've yelled NO. YES I've fawned crying. YES I've tried pennies in a can. YES I've tried scruffing him. YES I've tried closing his mouth/tapping the nose/flicking the nose/wacking the butt. YES I tried positive reinforcement (dog bites, I say no, he stops, gets treat - then bites again! vicious circle), YES I've tried time out's -I am AT A LOSS. His demeanor is sweet - but the biting makes it so I can't pet my own damn dog - the dog I bought for LOVE.
Great.
Now he responds to "NO BITE" but next chance he gets he bites. And now he BARKS too.
