Hello all,
My sister went for her appointment with the doctor today. She was accompanied by another one of my sisters, and 2 of her 3 daughters (her 3rd daughter is flying in from Florida).
Here is what I know:
- the tumor is on the left, kind of right above her ear and is about 1 1/2 inches. It is the area that directs her ability to speak & formulate her words. They were also told that the occurance of a tumor like this looks to be, for whatever reason, cells gone wrong, and is NOT hereditary or familial.
- the medication she's been on has reduced the inflammation or pressure in that area, so she is speaking a little easier
- Surgery is scheduled for Wednesday @ 1:30pm & should take about 3 hours. The tumor seems to be near the surface making it's removal a little less difficult. They will do a biopsy on it as soon as it is removed, while the surgeon continues working. They will not know if it is cancerous until that is done.
- She will be in the hospital for 3-5 days and off work for at least 3-4 weeks.
- Best case scenario: the tumor could be a sac of infection that could be drained, cleaned, and treated with anti-biotics. That of course is what we are praying for.

So now we wait again & hope for a successful outcome to Maggie's surgery, and a problem-free recuperation. Please, keep those prayers coming for Maggie and her family.
Thanks so much!
