I don't think I've seen a dry dog food without copper added, and i can definitely understand your frustration. I think its added in because it tends to be lost during processing and its one of the those minerals present in all natural organisms.

I might be wrong here, but I think the copper issue is a big deal for Irish Setters. There is something genetic that causes liver problems. I noticed a bunch of posts mentioning Purina Fit & Trim having low copper levels on a few sites when I googled dog food and copper (you got me really curious!)

I hope some other YT members can have something to add, but if not perhaps there is an Irish Setter group out there that can help you? They might be naturally more knowledgeable about the topic. Also, this would be more labor intensive but I would think a lot of the dog food companies would be more then willing to give you the copper levels present in all of their foods if you contact them. I wouldn't know how low of a level you would need but its something to think about and possibly go off of.
