I use lamps too. I can place it so Mom and babies can go to either end for heat or not. I had a friend that had a baby dig down to the heating pad and crawled in between the cover and the pad and "cooked".
And I've always worried about Mom chewing the cord if the pad went awry, since they like to dig around for comfort.
