Does anyone have any ideas on what two genders work well with Yorkies.

In the past, I have seen that two females in many different kinds of animals don't do well. Other times, I have seen that a mother/daughter pair work great together.

We have a baby girl and a baby boy, and I am specifially wondering about a father living in one house with one of the babies, and the mother living in another house with one of the babies. I realize it will depend on the particular dogs, but I am just wondering about any experiences/thoughts you guys may have.
