Scooter got his first hair cut when he was like 15 weeks old. I booked him an appointment and waited outside the salon (where he couldn't see me) for them to finish. I was worried about leaving him but he did great. It sounds like you don't want your babies at the salon too long either. A mobile groomer is a great option. So long as they are used to working with such little ones, you should be fine. They are your babies and if you feel they need a hair cut, you did the right thing in scheduling one for them. Be sure the groomer is aware that it is their first cut so they will take more time with them. If they get squirmy, the groomer can stop and you can try later. You want them to enjoy the groomers so it may take some time for them to adjust to someone new touching them with different combs all over.

Another trick that I used for his first few cuts was I took Scooter's favorite treats with me to the salon. Every few minutes, the groomer would stop and reward him for staying calm. Needless to say, it then became really fun...all he had to do was stay still and he got rewarded. Now, he gets rewarded with one big treat at the very end.

Good luck with the hair cut! I think you did the right thing if you feel their hair was getting too long.
