Toys are a great idea, the ones that can keep their mind working and keep them busy. However, I know they didn't work for Jackson. No matter what I gave him....he did NOT want to play with it if I wasn't there.

Jackson was this same way as a young pup and he seemed to grow out of it. One thing
I practiced with him though and it may help you out.... Let him know you are NOT going
to leave him! Walk out of the room for 10 seconds, and then walk right back where he
can see you. Then walk out of the room for 40 seconds and do the same thing, etc.
Also, they eventually learn when you pick up your keys you're leaving, or put on your
shoes, etc. So start picking up your keys, opening the door, etc and NOT leaving
 like he expects you to.
