Good morning everyone - I was waiting to give you all an update until this morning when I could speak to Lola's vet.

She is doing fine, but her glucose levels are a little lower than they'd like - she's had a glucose drip intravenously since yesterday, so they would expect her glucose levels to be high/normal, when in actuality they are low/normal. So I can't go pick her up yet. She said hopefully this afternoon or tonight.

While she's been there basically she has just had the IV for glucose to keep her blood sugar levels up, and they have been testing her levels every four hours or so. They're also going to test her liver levels sometime today and then I'll need to bring her back in tomorrow. But apparently she is getting LOTS of attention by the staff (because who doesn't love sweet little yorkies?!) and has been a real trooper.

It is shocking that eating less than one piece of trident has cost almost $1200 and a day and a half in the ER. She's only 2.8 lbs, so ANY amount of xylitol can be fatal... the other scary thing about xylitol is that there are no "rules" about how it affects dogs; two dogs of the same size and breed could be affected completely differently. I hope that everyone can learn from my mistake and keep anything containing xylitol out of your house or up very far from where your baby could get it. It's been a scary few days but luckily my little girl is going to be fine. Thank you all so much for your thoughts and prayers, Lola and I appreciate it! I'll post an update when I bring her home.
