My first two un-related Yorkies were both diagnosed with this. The first one was terribly sick and hospitalized three times before he was diagnosed. Both dogs were placed on Hill's Prescription Diet Canine I.D. dog food for the rest of their lives. One lived to be seventeen and one to sixteen. Please ask your vet about this food. As far as I'm concerned, it worked miracles after the dogs being so horribly sick. Good luck and I hope Nikki feels better soon.
