it is best to throw away the rest of the food. When they are puppies it is ok to free feed them the kibble, with fresh water daily. Yorkies can't eat a lot of food at once , this means they are going to be hungry sooner , and require smaller amounts of food more frequently.
Very young yorkie puppies, and tiny puppies are mopre at risk of Hypoglecima . That is anther reason why it better to free feed. I also feed my dogs canned food . However , when I do, I give it to them at meal time , once or twice a day, then leave the kibble out for them to eat when ever they want to.
Storing a canned food, it needs to be taken out of the can, and stored in a air tight container in the fridge. That is a safety issue, so the canned food does not collect any bacteria .
