We travel with our two yorkies all the time, they are not good with call back either
We take them camping , to B&B's and self catering's, we have an xpen with a lid.. it is wonderful, and we also use a long rope, attached to something, with both their leads tied to the other end. This gives them a nice long length to be free to wonder around on. This works well on a beach too, we tie the rope to a chair or our umbrella. This way we can all relax, knowing they are safe and they are free to wonder, just a little way.
