Your post/thread is getting more views and replies than mine did but here is what I had recently posted:
Carrots & Chlorine
I just got my July issue of Shop Smart magazine (Consumer report). There is an article which statescarrots and other vegetables are treated with chlorine. It also says Manufacturers often treat produce, even the organic kind with a mild chlorine solution to disinfect it and extend it's shelf life. The concentration is supposed to be tiny compared to products like household cleaners and pose no risk to humans. It goes on to say if you want to avoid chemicals buy produce off the farm stand or try growing your own.
Glad I never paid extra for the organics. Am I the only one who didn't know even organics were treated?
