Apparently is way more common in dogs than in people, and not nearly the big deal. LOL The head, the biggest part, usually makes for an easy way for the rest of the body to slide out. When the body comes out first, sometimes the mom has to work a little harder to get the bigger part, the head, out. When ours were breech, the mom didn't have to work much harder though. I had been told there's a little less time allowed for the mom to push the head out if it's breech, b/c the umb. cord gets compressed while the body is being squeeze at the entrance of the birth canal. From what I hear it's usually not a big deal. I as surprised how easy it was for our mama, b/c you can read and be told the worse case scenarios. I just read on how to help the baby out if it gets a little stuck, and it helped knowing that: not only b/c I needed to know it, but b/c it gave me peace of mind and the knowledge of what to expect. Believe me, I have very little experience at this. I have helped in a cow, a cat, and a dog delivery (and my own 5 kiddos, but that might not count in this case, LOL). Most people here have way more doggy delivery experience and knowledge than I do, but I just wanted to share what I knew. |
