This made me cry.....
Adopt a Yorkshire Terrier Yorkie: Jack: Petfinder
Jack is a 3 yr old male yorkie. He was found wandering in the Bronx, apparently a victim of torture! He was an emaciated 5.6 lbs, probably half of what he should be, and a rope with wire was imbedded into his leg down to the bone. Tendons and muscles were all cut thru by the rope and wire and it had been that way so long that the flesh was growing around it. What EXCRUCIATING PAIN this poor little boy must have been in. You can see how we got him in the first picture. He can't be groomed yet due to the injury but will be once he heals. You can see his injury in the second picture but it doesn't show the severity of it! Our vets immediately went to work and were able to save the foot. We still don't know if he will need skin grafts and have to wait to see how it all heals. He is now getting daily treatments at the hospital to ensure proper healing and will then be neutered by us before adoption. Once he was out of pain he became a YORKIE (all capitals on purpose!). Yap Yap, telling everyone what to do, which was mostly "give me food!!!!". He wants to play, play, play, even with the injury. The nurses in the hospital let him out and he goes from person to person wanting to play tug and get attention. He will go to one of our great foster homes when he is released from the hospital where she will begin to housebreak him, maybe teach him some manners, tho anyone who knows and loves yorkies knows how bossy they are. It's part of their charm and Jack is all bossy yappy yorkie! Jack will need a safe loving home where he will get lots and LOTS of attention and activity. He has a high high HIGH energy level, so he will need someone with an active lifestyle. He needs a fenced yard with a non working or work from home person and another small young active dog so he can get lots of energy out with the dog by playing. If you are interested in Jack and can provide the home he needs when he is ready, please read on to see how to apply to adopt him....
