I think it is best to keep them away from fireworks if possible. We have taken dogs with us before to some of the fun activities, but the fireworks really hurts their ears and they get so scared. It may be best to just avoid it if possible. Inside in their favorite crate or bed is probably what they need..... or just hold them on your lap. They just want to feel safe..... and we owe that to them, at least I think that way.. 
A reminder to keep them leashed ..... especially if there is a possibility of them getting scared and running. Also......... don't forget about ID. If they do get away..... there is a better chance of you getting them back if they have ID on them.
This year, we will be watching the fireworks with Shelby & Seymour from our backyard......... we can see them in the sky, AND barely hear them.
