Ha, I know where you're coming from. We've had a macaw for 14 years who we consider family -- the loud, annoying family member, but family nonetheless!

And we have a budgie we rescued from a tree who survived one escape from our home and an ornery magpie. Both are happy and healthy. They do become part of the "flock."
