My mother in laws maltese/yorkie mix used to chew on rawhides all the time- one night my husband and I stopped by while they were out and their boy was standing straight up with his head held high. I went to pick him up like normal and he started screatching! I put him down and then talked with him and tried agian he had been chewing on rawhide and it hardened up in his throat. We took him to the vet and they got it out but it was awful! Our vet recommends no rawhides of any size for these little guys.
