Is there anything I can do to help my Yorkie feel better? and know that she is still very important , and loved? I hate to see Suzi sad . |
I have a 7 yr old female and brought home a puppy now 11 months old but 5 months old at the time, well my 7 yr old's attitude was like "I did not ask you for a puppy we were doing perfectly fine without HIM!" Within a week, the ice was breaking, the puppy has brought youthfulness back to the 7 yr old, although she does disciplines him when he has pushed the envelope too far! Although she is very tolerant of him now. Give it time, the best bet is to let both know that YOU are the pack leader (see Cesar Milan Dog Whisper books and DVDs), treat the older one with respect and priority, so she/he does not feel like they are being displaced and believe it or not, it really works to take them on walks together as often as you can. Walking puts both on neutral territory (thus no turf battles!) and allows them to share and bond in a fun activity.
