OMGosh! How scary and thank God for that man of yours! I am like you and freak out.
So hard to stay calm in those kind of situation.
I have never put a collar on my babies. They wear harnesses ONLY and then only when we are outside or going somewhere. I have to say though that I have had that policy not because I ever dreamed that anything like that could happen but because I was concerned about collapsed trach.
So glad your babies are ok, did you take him to a vet to get checked out?
