It may help if you get down on her level...instead of bending over at the waist to pick her up...bend your knees...so you're lower and not a looming figure over top of her. I realize you're not some monster...just realize to her.. you are really big and reaching down for her. So bend down and let her come to you then pick her up.
It's likely she may do it when she gets excited too. Don't talk baby talk to her...wait a few minutes to greet her and that'll help.
