I expect to be holding him whenever he isn't confined in his crate.

Can you offer tips regarding confinement?

Also, he usually sleeps on a pillow in bed with me at night. Do I need to put the crate next to my bed? I don't think he'd wander from his pillow at night.

I live fairly close to the woods. I know I'll need to chase all rabbits, squirrels, chipmunks, birds... before taking him outside. Any additional thoughts?

Thank you!

Hey Deb, I just sent you a PM. I also realized I didn't answer your question regarding sleeping at night. YES, your baby will need to be in a crate at night. If he were to become disoriented (pain meds can do this) or have to potty or fall off the bed, he can completely undo the surgery and perhaps make it impossible to repair. Also, they are pretty painful the first two weeks, so it is very important to allow them a stable place to sleep so he doesn't tweak anything. Make sure you limit the blankets in his crate to prevent him from getting tangled in the blankies and hurting himself.

Please let me know if you need anything!
