This really stuck out at me. All you are going to need is one person to complain before management is going to be forced to take action. Maybe you'll be lucky and they'll give you some lee-way. Most likely? (Like in every apartment complex I've worked in) You'll get a cease notice, and non-compliance will mean you'll be evicted. (Which is serious, not only because you may had penalties/be held to the end of the lease but it will also go on your record - possibly meaning you'll be denied housing somewhere else. Every complex I've been a leasing agent at has said eviction = rejected applicant.)
If one of your neighbors does complain (which is likely to happen at some point since your neighbors will most likely change eventually) what is going to happen to your dog? Are you going to sell him/her? Drop off at a shelter?
I'm pretty sure most of us all hope our dogs won't be barkers, but there are no guarantees. Sometimes you can help quiet them, sometimes you cannot... but doing this somewhere when your lease states that you cannot have dogs really isn't something I'd recommend.
I do not mean to be overly harsh - but I worked as a leasing agent at a complex where many people had dogs when it was not allowed. We passed a blind eye a lot, but if we got a complaint we had to peruse it. Doesn't matter how nice of tenant you are or how much they like you or how many other people have dogs or do things that break the outlines of the lease. You get "caught," you have to face the penalties, and you won't be the only person suffering from it.
