I don't think so, I started putting them on her when i got her, at 18 weeks old, and she never has had a problem with them. Doesn't even try to rub them out. Her hair grows pretty slow, so I am just now using bows, but she doesn't seem to mind the bows either.

I am careful not to make them too tight, and take them out at night to give her hair a rest, the hair in her face drives her crazy, in the morning she wakes up and sets her head on my lap while i put her hair up haha she is a silly girl.
