I don't want to scare you but it sounds an awful lot like kennel cough! If I remember the way it was explained to me years ago, it is kind of like an upper respiratory infection humans get. It is very contagious and needed antibiotics to kick it. If your vet doesn't take your concerns about your baby as seriously as you do you need to find another who will!
