Thank you all for your responses. I appreciate the time you took to give me some very good information.

We currently have pet insurance for Layla that runs us about $28 per month. This covers the bulk of her regular care and would cover a vast majority of a serious illness or emergency. Not all but a good portion. So if I were to add another baby, I am looking at at least another $28 per month for insurance for a total of about $60 bucks. Very doable but you are right if there is an emergency, we would be a bit strapped. I would find a way to pay for the care, just as I would for my skin babies.
