Default Yorkie Puppy Gagging

I have a 4-month, 1 and a half-pound yorkie. He is "honking" or "hacking" 4-8 times an episode mainly when lying down taking a nap, followed by a gag. He has anywhere from 5-10 spells a day. My Vet tells me its allergies. I have read a lot about a collapsing trachea. He tells me that if this were taking place he would be coughing constantly and struggling to breathe. He is not doing this. He is fine after the episode takes place. Honk, honk, honk, honk, and a big gag or retch. Break, start again. Then a good bit of time goes by before it happens again. I am questioning my Vet because everything I read on reverse sneezing vs. a collapsing trachea states that a gag or a retch follows collapsing trachea symptoms, as this is what is happening. I’m not so sure he is coughing honestly, it almost seems like dry heaves and gag! No X-rays have been taken. This is my baby and I am concerned!! We go back tothe Vet Monday for his last set of shots for a year. If he won't take X-rays again I will go to another Doctor. Thank you for your time. Leslie Precht
