Jemma is 7 months now and 4 pounds. At what age do you wait before they get pulled. My goodness if all those have to come out, she is going to be hurting so bad. I won't know what to do to help her. Damn, I hate owning a dog sometimes.
Thank you for any help

Carol and Jemma

Yorkies are a wonderful breed, but one of the weakest attributes is their teeth. They don't always lose the baby all an their own, and most of us have had to have them pulled during a spay or neuter. For those who are choosing to keep them intact, I wouldn't wait much longer than a year to have the teeth pulled, the double row leads to problems with the permanent teeth. You need to be extra diligent in caring for a Yorkie's teeth, especially when they have the double row, as food builds up between the rows. Tartar is a major problem, and we brush as well as use Petzlife to reduce tartar. I also believe that a hard chewing stick like Merricks bully sticks help scrape tartar away. You are right, though, there is a lot of responsibility that comes with owning a pet, and they are not really for the "care free" person.
