Hi, I have a 4yr old male and a 5mos old female. I've been away for two days with my female and just got back a while ago. My male usually doesn't care for anyother dogs to play with, he'd usually just play w/me and follows me around, but he's all of a sudden interested in my female. He keeps trying to mount her, and she just plays like a puppy would. I checked her to make sure she wasn't on her first heat cycle and there's isn't even the slightest pink. Can my male sense that she's going into heat? Or what can it be? Its really strange, because he's never cared for another dog, he'll slightly play with my female and my min. pin. but only for a really short couple of mins. Could my female be going into heat already? Anything will help, she's my first female puppy ever, I've always had males b4.
