You have this same basic post listed under a different title here: http://www.yorkietalk.com/forums/yor...-i-expect.html You might want to read the replies there. I won't rewrite it all here, but suffice it to say, 5 weeks is much too young. This is not putting the puppy first. Sure it is "fun" to play mom and hand feed tiny puppies for awhile. But that is definately NOT what is best for them. Please let the breeder keep the puppy with her mother and siblings until she is 12 weeks old. There is so much they have to learn and so much emotional bonding that happens in these next couple of months. To take a puppy home at that young of an age is irresponsible.

I just finished hand raising a litter because their momma did not make it. If there was any way I could have given them back those monthswith their mother, I would have done it. Nothing takes the place of a mother's nurturing.

Just because you did it before and the pup survived does not mean it was the right thing to do. I am very surprised a breeder with 25 years experience would not educate you on the reasons behind keeping them with their mother. No reputable breeder would let you have a pup that young. A puppymill breeder would. One that just wanted to get rid of the puppies would -- but not a reputable breeder.
