It is a personal choice between you and your vet.
I can tell you that I (and this is just me) would not.
I'd do the Protein C test and slowly proceed while putting the LP surgery in the back of your mind until this is figured out.
Those numbers could mean a shunt but it is more likely MVD or something altogether different.

Ellie's bile acids were 106 post last January and we did an ultrasound (not recommending it because of their accuracy). It showed nothing major with her liver and because of her age and lack of symptoms, we are going no further right now. If I had to do it over again, I would have done the Protein C test first. Ellie's liver biopsy showed no MVD (only had it done because she was getting spayed anyway), so we don't know what it is but I would be putting her through a scint at this time.

In my opinion (and I am not a vet), those numbers are too low for that test unless the Protein C test indicates a shunt.
