That cough could still very well be the kennel cough....it can take months to clear up entirely. The other you describe...doesn't fit a dog in "heart failure".

I really hate to see him being treated with medications for something he may not have...not to mention how much it worry it causes YOU.

Btw, mine would prefer "soft" food all the time themselves.
