If you pay close attention during spring and fall the goo is usually much worse. When the eye becomes dry during these times of the year more damage can be done by the dust and debris scratching across the eye every time they blink.
is it like a saline solution? if so opthamologist said to only use once in a while if santa ana winds are happening in our area as she stated you do not want to mess up natural tear production or you will have a big problem so putting something unnatural in there to do the job many times causes the body to not do it's work as the body is designed to compensate for many things. If the dog has dry eye that is different then the dog will be on cyclosporine, etc but she was very adminant with me not to do this too often or i will have problems. The big tears she said if you see those come out of the eyes mean the tear ducts are blocked usually due to genetics, etc and i believe using spring water instead of tap helps with minerals and blockage in the tear ducts.
