Taking out my little Rowdy (now 8 mo old and completely potty trained since 5 months) very very frequently was my method. I must have spent half my life in the yard during those months saying over and over, "Let's go potty" "Let's go potty" "Let's go potty". I still find myself saying that when I want him to go potty before we are go out in the car. When he was about 4 months old we got a doggy door so he could go in and out at will, and when he started using it, he got soooo much better with potty training. It did take him a few weeks to "remember" to go out the door to potty, but eventually he did.
Also, many many people on this board complain about their little ones having memory laspes (suddenly having accidents after being completely trained). I thought that my sweet little Rowdy would NEVER do that to me - but he did. A couple of weeks ago it rained, and although he went out to pee, he started pooping in the house! I nearly died AND I never saw him do it so I couldn't do any correction at the time of the accident. Actually, many people advise to ignore the accidents and praise praise praise when they do go outside. I guess that is what I did since I didn't see it happen.
I think using LOTS of praise when they go outside is the best thing that you can do. And take them outside as much as you possibly can. I know some people use treats when they potty outside, but I couldn't do that with Rowdy since he was such a picky eater.
Good luck!
