Default washing feet after a walk

Does anyone else wash their dogs' feet after going for a walk? Am I being ridiculous?

I take my Yorkie, Edie, and my Westie on walks in the morning (early, to beat the heat) around our neighborhood. After we get home, I put them both in the utility sink. I spray their paws with a dilute shampoo solution, lather, and rinse. It only takes a minute for each dog. I started doing this in case they stepped in something bad during the walk, but it could prevent illness too, I suppose. But my dogs have all their innoculations, so it's probably not necessary.

Edie's paws always have some visible dirt wash off. Hopefully, this is keeping my house a little cleaner.
