"Next time you see an ad showing a cute puppy in need of a good home ASAP, read closely. It could be fraud. Nigerian scammers, famous for e-mail frauds, are now using puppies as bait. One tip-off: The seller lives overseas and wants payment by wire transfer. They'll take your money, but you won't get your puppy. Also beware of bogus overseas buyers if you are selling a car. They'll answer your ad, send a phony cashier's check, usually for a couple of grand over the asking price, and then ask you to send back the overage."
